Austin-based RigUp, which provides a platform for the oil and gas industry, says it is hiring 350 trades workers to support construction of a new solar project in eastern Travis County. RigUp said it is looking to immediately fill positions for construction and skilled trades worker crews, including electricians, equipment operators, racking/panel installers and general laborers with prior solar experience. The project is expected to create permanent jobs to support the operation and maintenance of the power plant
Pflugerville Solar Project is being built on a 950-acre site in eastern Travis County
Recurrent Energy, the parent company of RigUp signed a power purchase agreement with Austin Energy for the project, which aims to provide low-cost solar power to the utility’s customers for 15 years following the start of operation.
Officials said the project is part of Austin Energy’s goal to provide cost-effective, green-energy service to power up to 25,000 homes.
