A recent article in our local paper, the Austin American Statesman, reported that Thermo Fisher Scientific will be expanding their facility on Woodward Street to meet the demand for their product which tests for COVID-19. This might be considered some good news coming from some very bad news. The expansion will create an additional 300 new jobs coming to the south Austin expansion. The firm will also be expanding their R&D department which will add another 30 to 50 jobs. The article didn’t state any salary range for the new positions.
