According to a recent article in the Austin American Statesman, Money Magazine has chosen Round Rock as the number 2 place to live in the USA. Congratulations to Round Rock! Determining factors to establish ranking included the economic health of the city, diversity, cost of living, education, crime rate, public education, and area amenities. Those amenities include the fabulous Dell Diamond and the 640 acre Old Settlers’ Park. The Hyde Park community of Austin, although not a city, came in at 56, and San Marcos which is just to the south of Austin came in at 76.
What is important to note is that this entire area is vibrant and thriving and has a bright future. People want to live in the Austin area because of the fine quality of life, “can do” spirit and still relatively affordable housing. Rents, compared to the west coast, are cheap, so someone taking a job here can actually give themselves a raise by lowering their living expenses and not having to pay any state income tax.
It is a good time to own Austin area residential rentals.
